A note from Kara:

“I need help.” As human beings, we all share this commonality: each one of us will likely say this phrase at some point in our lives. Acknowledging a need for help can be uncomfortable, painful or scary. Perhaps you’ve discovered that something is keeping you from becoming the best self you can be. Or maybe your relationships, career or family life is leaving you feeling depleted. The good news is that these struggles do not have to define who you are; change is possible and it can be a beautiful thing.

Recognizing and building upon the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity and challenges has become a refined skill and passion of mine. During my outpatient therapy and emergency room experience, I have worked with people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and ages. I have helped people improve the quality of their relationships, facilitate more effective communication, work through stressful life transitions and crises and create happier, more fulfilling lifestyles.

My Approach

I can provide a safe, encouraging environment in which we will quickly build rapport, establish goals and develop a healthy means of meeting them. We will work collaboratively to utilize and build upon your unique set of strengths to empower you to take more control over your emotions, behavior and a path to happiness and wellness. I will draw upon different approaches tailored to your individuality and your particular reason for seeking help. I have seen success incorporating cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused and strengths-based approaches for depression and anxiety.

I am also a firm believer in healing mental and emotional distress by way of physical activity, meditation and humor; as such, I am an avid runner, yoga enthusiast, bookworm and huge fan of stand-up comedy :)

Asking for help is not easy, but you don’t have to do it alone. I look forward to speaking with you so we can begin to discover your resiliency, strengthen your commitment to yourself and renew your hope for a more fulfilling life!
